RULES
Please remember this league is built for fun competition. No arguing or aggressive behavior between coaches, officials or players will be tolerated. There are different variations of Sixes play. Broncos Lacrosse has chosen to use a set of rules our Texas players are used to. These rules do not match exactly to World Lacrosse Sixes rules. Please be sure to review before you get to the field.
Some officials have refereed these types of Sixes games over the years, for some this is brand new. Please have patience at all levels. Whether a draw is taken every 3, 4, or 5 goals or how big/small the shot blocker is ultimately should not be the focus. It is all good!
Generally, these games are not the time to work on offensive sets or plays. Rather focusing on field awareness, keeping eyes up on transition, LOTS of ball movement, defensive position in tight spaces, and creativity are all things that make Sixes games FUN!
3-4
Goalies are not required. Shot blockers (3×3) will be set up if no goalie. (normal 6×6 goal). Center line serves as restraining line.
No score kept.
Draws every 3(ish) goals. This is up to the discretion of the officials and is based on the need for subs or to give players a quick break if it is hot.
Subbing on the fly is allowed.
One pass (after the clear) before a shot.
6v6 - 5 over the center line, hold one back.
There is no ‘3-seconds’ call.
If there is a foul inside the critical scoring area, the official will blow the whistle, and the offending player will go behind the ball. The ball carrier must then pass once before there is a shot. This is to keep the game safe and give the defenders the opportunity to match up once more before a shot is taken.
Goalies can score!!!
ALL players should be encouraged to take the draw at all levels.
5-8
Goalies are required.
No traditional lines (i.e. 8s or 12s). Center line serves as restraining line. Players can set up wherever they choose prior to the start of the draw. Officials will move players back for safety prior to the draw.
